Walter McCarty spent eight seasons with the Boston Celtics before being traded to Phoenix two years ago. He spent last season with the Los Angeles Clippers. One of the C’s most popular players, Walter had one of his best seasons for the Green in 2003-04. He averaged 7.9 points per game, his highest output since his first season with the Celtics (1997-98), when he averaged 9.6 points per game while making a career high 64 starts. In 2003-04, Walter led the Celtics in three-point field goals made (137) and was third in the NBA in three-pointers made per 48 minutes played (3.46). McCarty is a graduate of the University of Kentucky with a degree in communications. He had an outstanding three-year career for the Wildcats, and was a co-captain of the Kentucky team that won the NCAA National Championship in 1996. He was a first-round draft pick of the New York Knicks in the 1996 NBA Draft (19th pick overall). He spent one season with the Knicks, and was traded to the Celtics in October of 1997.
