Dwight Clark is one of the great receivers in NFL history and an accomplished front office executive as well. He spent 24 years in the NFL, 19 of them with the San Francisco 49ers. During his 9 year playing career, he caught 506 passes for 6,750 yards and 48 touchdowns. When he retired, he was the 49ers all-time leading receiver and was the 20th man in NFL history to reach the 500 career reception milestone. He is perhaps best remembered for “The Catch” against Dallas in the 1981 NFL Championship Game which propelled the Niners into Super Bowl XVI. He was a part of all 5 of San Francisco’s Super Bowl winning teams, 2 as a player and 3 as a front office executive. He was Sports Illustrated’s Player of the Year in 1982 and a two-time All-Pro selection. Upon retirement, he spent 10 years in the 49ers’ front office before joining the Cleveland Browns in 1998 as Executive Vice-President and Director of Football Operations. He is a member of the Clemson University Hall of Fame, the North Carolina Hall of Fame, and the South Carolina Hall of Fame.
