Celebrity Participants

Tim Welsh is the head men’s basketball coach at Providence College.  In 2003-2004, he led the Friars to one of their best seasons in the last 30 years.  PC recorded its second 20-win season under Welsh and also made its second trip to the NCAA Tournament under his tutelage.  Providence earned its highest seed ever in the NCAA Tournament as a five seed.  In Big East action, the Friars had a monumental season, tying the team record for league wins with an 11-5 mark, including wins over eventual national champion Connecticut and defending national champion Syracuse.  Providence spent nine weeks in the national polls and was ranked as high as number 12 in the country by the Associated Press, the highest ranking for PC since 1978.  Welsh came to Providence after three remarkable seasons as head coach at Iona College, where his teams had three straight 20 win seasons and an overall record of 70-22.
