He was inducted into the New England Patriots Hall of Fame in 1999, and was named to the franchise's 35th Anniversary Team in 1994. Andre played outside linebacker for the Patriots from 1982 through 1993, and retired as the Patriots all-time leader in sacks with 100. He finished his career as one of only seven players in NFL history to record 100 career sacks. Andre made 5 Pro Bowl appearances, he was the NFL Players Association's Linebacker of the Year three times, and was named AFC Defensive Player of the Year by UPI in 1985. Tippett is a graduate of the University of Iowa, where in 1981 he was a team captain, an All-American, and helped lead the Hawkeyes to their first Rose Bowl appearance since 1959.
