Mike Eruzione was the captain of the gold-medal winning 1980 United States Olympic hockey team. He scored the dramatic game-winning goal against the Soviet Union in the semi-finals. The United States went on to defeat Finland to win the gold medal. Named Sports Illustrated's Greatest Sports Moment of the Century. Along with his 1980 teammates, Mike had the honor of lighting the cauldron with the Olympic flame at the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City. He is a member of the Boston University Athletic Hall of Fame, the Olympic Hall of Fame, the United States Hockey Hall of Fame, and the Italian-American Hall of Fame.
